What Is MnemosyneC?

MnemosyneC is a local-first AI memory substrate. It gives any AI — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, any model — a permanent, private, verifiable memory that lives on your machine.

The name comes from Mnemosyne (neh-MOZ-uh-nee), the Greek goddess of memory and the mother of the Muses. Dr. MnemosyneC inherited her memory.

The License: Free Forever

MnemosyneC is released under SSPL v1 (Server Side Public License) + Cooperative Defensive Patent Pledge #2260.

What this means:

SSPL: Unlike MIT or Apache, SSPL requires that if you offer MnemosyneC as a service to others, you open-source your entire service stack. This prevents extraction-class platforms from wrapping cooperative software in proprietary services.

Pledge #2260: A cooperative member may not use any patent in the Liana Banyan portfolio against another cooperative member or against any user of the software. The pledge survives any corporate restructuring.

USPTO Patents

Liana Banyan Corporation has filed 19 provisional patent applications covering the core substrate architecture, memory mechanisms, cooperative economics, and verification protocols.

Key areas:

19 provisional applications filed as of May 2026. Formal prosecution in progress.

The patents exist to protect the commons, not to extract from it. Under Pledge #2260, the entire portfolio is non-weaponizable against cooperative members and users.

What Does AI Actually Cost?

Most AI tools hide the cost and extract the value.

MnemosyneC shows you the real numbers:

ItemCostWho keeps it
Your query (NANO model)$0You
Your query (FULL, local Gemma 4)$0You
Your query (cloud via cooperative mesh)Cost+20%Worker keeps 83.3%
Membership$5/yearCooperative (Cost+20%)
Your substrateYoursYou, forever

Cost+20% means: the cooperative charges only what it costs to operate, plus 20% margin. No investor extraction. No ad revenue. No hidden monetization.

83.3% of every transaction goes to the worker, builder, or creator who produced the value. The platform keeps exactly Cost+20% — no more, no less.

The 2nd Second Industrial Revolution

The first Industrial Revolution mechanized physical labor. The second is mechanizing knowledge work.

The extraction-class response: centralize the AI, centralize the substrate, extract the margin.

The cooperative-class response: MnemosyneC.

Your substrate is the asset. It compounds with use. It belongs to you. The cooperative exists to let you share it with people you choose, on terms you set, at costs that are transparent.

The technology is not new. Pheromone systems, substrate accumulation, peer-mesh verification — these are decades-old concepts applied with discipline. What’s new is the cooperative structure that makes the substrate yours instead of theirs.

“Help each other help ourselves.” — Golden Key, Liana Banyan Corporation

Library of Congress Project

MnemosyneC is designed as cooperative infrastructure, not a product. The Liana Banyan substrate architecture is intended for eventual archival submission to the Library of Congress as a contribution to the American cooperative commons.

The stone tablet mechanic — immutable, append-only, SHA256-anchored truth — is designed to meet archival preservation standards. A cooperative’s accumulated knowledge should be as durable as a library.
